About the DCC
The Detroit Colour Council is a professional society based in the metropolitan Detroit, Michigan area, which promotes communication and education about color issues. Members represent a wide variety of professional functions including engineers, designers, sales people, scientists, consultants, and lab technicians. A majority of the members are employed by suppliers to the automotive industry.
Since its founding in 1955 by a small group of designers, the DCC has grown to a membership that currently extends throughout the U.S. and Canada. A nominal fee for events pays for administrative expenses and aids to education. All board members are volunteers. The DCC, registered as a non-profit organization in the State of Michigan, is also a member body of the Inter-Society Color Council, a national organization comprising many color-related interests.
The DCC supports formal educational efforts in color science and design. Programs have been coordinated with Eastern Michigan University and the College for Creative Studies. Assistance has been financial, promotional, and providing instruction and course planning.
